Timegrip takes over the management burden for Djurs Sommerland

 

"We save a great deal on administrative costs by using a system that covers all aspects of our operations. Employment contracts, agreements, working hours, and payroll are sensitive matters, and Timegrip (formerly TimePlan) and ProLøn keep everything organised."

 

Says Michael B. Nielsen, one of the two directors of Djurs Sommerland in Nimtofte. In 1996, he and his brother Henrik took over Northern Europe’s largest amusement park from their father, where at the time, work schedules for approximately 200 employees were managed using Excel spreadsheets.

 

"We simply couldn’t keep track of it all. We needed a visual overview of who was at work and the costs associated with each shift throughout the day," says Michael B. Nielsen.

 

 

Scheduling and payroll system designed to fit their needs

 

In 2001, Djurs Sommerland chose Timegrip for scheduling and HR management, bringing ProLøn on board at the same time. The payroll system needed to be compatible with Timegrip’s departmental structure and offer direct integration so that both systems could operate from a single database.

 

"I experienced great flexibility and excellent service from both Timegrip and ProLøn. The setup was designed to meet our specific needs, and the integration between the two systems has worked seamlessly from day one," says Michael B. Nielsen.

 

For the past 17 years, Timegrip and ProLøn have managed staff, schedules, and payroll for Djurs Sommerland, which now has 650 employees. Known for his dedication and hands-on approach to daily operations and personnel management, Michael B. Nielsen was named Denmark’s Best Manager by TV2’s judging panel in 2010.

 

 

Secure and effortless staff administration

 

"Timegrip and ProLøn optimise our management workload and provide us with an overview of our daily operations. We have just one employee handling payroll for 650 staff members, and we can create payroll budgets in Timegrip and compare them with actual figures," says Michael B. Nielsen.

 

He highlights that the digitalisation and automation of Timegrip and ProLøn over the years have made everyday staff administration both secure and "extremely easy."

 

"We use the same shift planning templates year after year in Timegrip, adjusting them based on holidays and visitor numbers. 85% of our employees return each season, meaning they can renew their employment contracts in just seconds using Digital Signature in Timegrip."

 

 

Scheduling and time tracking via smartphones

 

When Djurs Sommerland releases work schedules, employees can view their shifts via the Timegrip web app on their smartphones and tablets.

 

"Our employees can even put shifts up for sale on their mobile phones, bid on available shifts, and send messages to each other. This saves us an incredible amount of time in administration and makes communication with our staff much easier," says Michael B. Nielsen.

 

He explains that when an employee arrives to start their shift at the Dragon King roller coaster, they clock in and out via a Timegrip terminal in the information building. Timegrip records all hours while taking into account collective agreements, bonuses, holidays, and absences. Every two weeks, the department manager at Djurs Sommerland approves the time logs, and the accountant performs a final review in Timegrip before sending the working hours to ProLøn for payroll processing with just a few clicks.

 

In 2017, Djurs Sommerland achieved its highest-ever visitor numbers, welcoming over 808,000 guests. Michael B. Nielsen expects 2018 to be just as busy following the launch of the park’s new attractions, Safari Bus and Jungle Rally.
