With JYSK in Europe: Timegrip is a key tool for time tracking

For over 20 years, the Danish retail chain JYSK has partnered with Timegrip (formerly TimePlan) across 19 European countries. Henrik Naundrup and Keld Marott have led this journey and explain why Timegrip is an essential tool in JYSK’s international expansion.

It all started with Henrik Naundrup. In 1998, he worked as CFO at IKEA Denmark and played a key role in choosing Timegrip as a replacement for manual time tracking.

"When I joined JYSK in 2000, we faced a similar challenge. We needed a system that could handle workforce scheduling and time tracking not just in Denmark but also in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Poland. Fortunately, Timegrip evolved to support all these countries," says Henrik Naundrup, now Executive Vice President for Finance & IT at JYSK.

From key figures across countries to secure compliance

For more than 20 years, Timegrip has been an integrated part of JYSK’s European processes, serving as the standard setup.

"For us, having the same IT systems and platforms across all markets has been crucial," says Keld Marott, who joined JYSK in 2003 and is now CIO.

"Timegrip allows us to compare key figures across countries—how many hours we use per store, our staff turnover, and absenteeism rates. It enables us to manage our workforce and payroll expenses efficiently."

For JYSK, Timegrip has also been a tool to ensure best practices in working conditions.

"Timegrip ensures that we comply with current regulations and agreements so that our employees receive the hours and salaries they are entitled to. This is not necessarily a given in all the countries we operate in," says Henrik Naundrup.

Never resting on our laurels

Today, JYSK has over 15,000 employees using Timegrip in more than 1,300 stores across 19 countries. In the spring of 2020, the retail chain expanded into Russia, with more countries to follow.

"We continue with Timegrip because the software delivers what we need. Like our other IT systems, Timegrip must continue evolving because employees and planners expect intuitive and fast apps," says Keld Marott.
